## Biography

Aaron Copland (1900–1990) was an American composer who wrote scores for several feature films. His first film score was for *Of Mice and Men* (1939), directed by Lewis Milestone. He received an Academy Award nomination for the score.

Copland composed music for *Our Town* (1940), *The North Star* (1943), *The Red Pony* (1949) and *The Heiress* (1949). His score for *The Heiress* won the Academy Award for Best Original Score. Music from his works was later used in *He Got Game* (1998).
