He was born on 6 December 1915 in the village of Al-Mashaya in Assiut Governorate and died on 20 March 1980. He began his film career in 1944 with *Mohamed Ali Street* and appeared in numerous secondary roles, often as a doorman, servant, policeman or naïve villager, across more than 300 films from the 1940s to the 1970s. He is known for parts in *The Blazing Sun* (1954) and *Cairo Station* (1958).
