## Biography

Abdel Hai Adib was an Egyptian screenwriter. He co-wrote the screenplay for *Cairo Station* (1958, also known as *Bab el-Hadid*), directed by Youssef Chahine, with Mohamed Abu Youssef.

Adib wrote screenplays for more than 100 Egyptian films from the late 1950s onwards. His credits include *A Woman on the Road* (1958), *Struggle of the Heroes* (1962) and later works such as *The Red Rose* (2000). He collaborated frequently with directors including Niazi Mostafa.

He was the father of film producers Emad and Adel Adib. Adib received honours at Arab film festivals including Cairo, Damascus and Alexandria. He died in Switzerland in 2007.
