## Biography

Achmed Abdullah (12 May 1881 – 12 May 1945) was an American writer and screenwriter. Born in Yalta, he wrote numerous pulp stories, novels and plays featuring adventure, crime and mystery in exotic settings, and contributed screenplays to several films.

His screen work includes the screenplay for *The Thief of Bagdad* (1924) and a collaboration on the screenplay for *The Lives of a Bengal Lancer* (1935), the latter earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. He also supplied titles for *Chang: A Drama of the Wilderness* (1927).
