## Biography

Adam Holender is a Polish-American cinematographer. Born on 13 November 1937 in Kraków, Poland, he studied architecture before graduating from the Łódź Film School in 1964. He worked on short films and in the camera department on Polish productions, including the television series *Four Tank-Men and a Dog*.

Holender moved to New York City in the 1960s. His first feature film as director of photography was *Midnight Cowboy* (1969), directed by John Schlesinger. He went on to shoot *The Panic in Needle Park* (1971), *The Dream Team* (1989), *Fresh* (1994), *Smoke* (1995) and *Blue in the Face* (1995). He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
