Adam Kay is a British writer, author, comedian and former doctor. Born Adam Richard Kay on 12 June 1980 in Brighton, England, he studied medicine at Imperial College London and worked as a junior doctor in the NHS from 2004 to 2010, specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology.

He is the author of the memoir *This Is Going to Hurt* (2017). Kay created and wrote the 2022 BBC One series adaptation of the same name, starring Ben Whishaw, and won a BAFTA for his writing. His other television writing credits include *Crims* (2015), *Mrs. Brown's Boys* and *Mitchell and Webb*.
