She was born Adjoa Aiboom Helen Andoh on 14 January 1963 in Clifton, Bristol. She began her career in theatre and has played lead roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, the Royal Court Theatre and the Almeida Theatre. On screen, she is known for playing Lady Agatha Danbury in the Netflix series *Bridgerton* (2020–) and its spin-off *Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story* (2023), as well as roles in *Doctor Who* (2007–2008), *Invictus* (2009) and *The Witcher* (2021). In 2025 Andoh was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
