## Biography

Adolfo Doring was a Mexican-born American documentary filmmaker, director and cinematographer. Born in Mexico City, he moved to New York City in the mid-1980s to study sociology at Columbia University and interned for photographer Joel Brodsky. He began working in photography before moving into cinematography for music videos and films.

Doring served as cinematographer on the documentary *Capturing the Friedmans* (2003). He directed the narrative feature *Metro* (2006), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as documentaries including *The Trial of the St. Patrick's Four* (2006) and *Blind Spot* (2008). He also directed music videos for artists such as Savage Garden, Hootie & the Blowfish, Sting and the Dixie Chicks, and won an MTV Video Music Award in 1994.

Doring died in New York City in 2016.
