## Biography

Aileen Britton (1916–1986) was an Australian actress of theatre, radio, television and film. She made her screen debut in the feature film *Tall Timbers* (1937) and then worked primarily on stage, including with the Independent Theatre, until the revival of Australian cinema in the mid-1970s.

She returned to feature films with the role of Grandma Bossier in *My Brilliant Career* (1979), for which she received an Australian Film Institute Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Britton appeared in numerous television series including *Matlock Police*, *The Restless Years*, *Prisoner* and *A Country Practice*.
