## Biography

Ákos Tolnay (1903–1981) was a Hungarian screenwriter, producer and occasional actor. He began his film career in the 1920s and worked in Britain during the 1930s before becoming active mainly in Italian cinema.

His screenwriting credits include *Wings Over Africa* (1936), *Elephant Boy* (1937), *The Golden Madonna* (1949), *Voice of Silence* (1953) and *The White Warrior* (1959). He also produced several films and appeared as the Austrian deserter in Roberto Rossellini's *Rome, Open City* (1945). Tolnay died in Rome on 7 February 1981.
