## Biography

Al Weaver is an English actor, writer, producer and director. Born Alexander Paul Weaver on 3 January 1981 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, he graduated with a BA in acting from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2003.

His early television roles include Christian in the 2008 series *The Devil's Whore* and Anthony in the 2013 series *Southcliffe*. He is best known for playing curate Leonard Finch in the ITV series *Grantchester* (2014–present). Other credits include Andy Galbraith in *Sherlock* (2010), the Comte d'Artois in *Marie Antoinette* (2006), and The Kid in *Doom* (2005).

On stage, Weaver shared the title role in Trevor Nunn's 2004 production of *Hamlet* at the Old Vic with Ben Whishaw. He has also worked in film, radio and voice acting, including as Rex in the video game *Xenoblade Chronicles 2* (2017).
