## Biography

Alan Bromly (1915–1995) was a British television director, producer and actor. Born Alan James Bromly in Godalming, Surrey, he began his career as an actor in the 1930s, appearing in theatre, early television and radio, before transitioning to production and direction in the 1950s.

He directed eight episodes of *Doctor Who* (1963), comprising the serials *The Time Warrior* (1973–1974) and *Nightmare of Eden* (1979). Bromly also directed the feature films *The Angel Who Pawned Her Harp* (1954) and *Follow That Horse!* (1960), and produced the BBC anthology series *Out of the Unknown* (1969–1971). His other directing credits include episodes of *Coronation Street*, *Crossroads* and *Crown Court*. He was married to the actress June Ellis.
