## Biography

Alan Hume (16 October 1924 – 13 July 2010) was an English cinematographer. He began his career as a clapper boy at Denham Studios in 1942 and worked as a camera operator on films including *Great Expectations* (1946) before serving in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He became director of photography on many *Carry On* films, starting with *Carry On Regardless* (1961).

Hume was director of photography on three James Bond films directed by John Glen: *For Your Eyes Only* (1981), *Octopussy* (1983) and *A View to a Kill* (1985). Other credits include *Return of the Jedi* (1983), *Supergirl* (1984), *Lifeforce* (1985), *Runaway Train* (1985) and *A Fish Called Wanda* (1988). He was a member of the British Society of Cinematographers.
