## Biography

Alan J. Levitt was an American television writer and producer. He contributed story, teleplay and writing credits to two episodes of the CBS sitcom *All in the Family* in 1971 and 1972.

Levitt wrote extensively for other series of the period, including 39 episodes of *Maude* (1972–1974), for which he also served as story editor, as well as episodes of *The Courtship of Eddie's Father*, *Julia*, *Three's Company* and *Baretta*. He created the short-lived series *Miss Winslow and Son* (1979). His work on *All in the Family* earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing Achievement in Comedy in 1972.
