## Biography

Alan Marshall (born 12 August 1938) is a British film producer.

He began his career as a film editor before moving into commercials production. In 1970 he co-founded an advertising company with director Alan Parker; the pair later established the production company that made their first feature, the 1976 musical *Bugsy Malone*. Their next collaboration was the 1978 drama *Midnight Express*.

Marshall went on to produce films including *Jacob's Ladder* (1990), *Basic Instinct* (1992), *Cliffhanger* (1993), *Showgirls* (1995), *Starship Troopers* (1997) and *Hollow Man* (2000), several of them directed by Paul Verhoeven.
