## Biography

Alan Ormsby is an American screenwriter, director, make-up artist and actor. Born on 14 December 1943, he studied drama at the University of Florida, where he met director Bob Clark. Their early collaborations included the horror films *Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things* (1972), for which Ormsby also provided make-up effects and acted, and *Dead of Night* (1974).

Ormsby co-wrote and co-directed *Deranged* (1974). His screenwriting credits include *My Bodyguard* (1980), *Cat People* (1982) and *Porky's II: The Next Day* (1983). He returned to directing with *Popcorn* (1991) and later co-wrote *The Substitute* (1996). He has also written the book *Movie Monsters*.
