## Biography

Albert S. Ruddy was a Canadian-born American film and television producer. Born in Montreal on 28 March 1930, he died in Los Angeles on 25 May 2024. He produced *The Godfather* (1972) and *Million Dollar Baby* (2004), both of which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Ruddy co-created the CBS sitcom *Hogan's Heroes* (1965–1971) with Bernard Fein. He later produced *The Longest Yard* (1974) and the *Cannonball Run* films (1981 and 1984). During production of *The Godfather*, he negotiated with the Italian-American Civil Rights League to address concerns about the film's portrayal of Italian Americans.
