## Biography

Albert Valentin (1902–1968) was a Belgian screenwriter and film director. Born in La Louvière, he began working in cinema in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

He collaborated with René Clair as assistant director on *À nous la liberté* (1931) and co-wrote the screenplay for Jean Renoir's *Boudu sauvé des eaux* (1932, also known as *Boudu Saved from Drowning*). Valentin later wrote scripts for Jean Grémillon, including *L'Étrange Monsieur Victor* (1938) and *Le ciel est à vous* (1944), and directed two feature films in the late 1940s.
