## Biography

Alberto Barberis was an Italian composer. Born in Rome on 20 June 1920, he trained in piano and organ at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia.

He is best known for co-composing the score for Orson Welles's *Othello* (1951) with Angelo Francesco Lavagnino. Barberis also received a composer credit, billed as A. Barberis, on the 1951 Italian film *Mamma mia, che impressione!*. Earlier, he wrote the 1945 song "Munasterio 'e Santa Chiara" with Michele Galdieri.

Barberis worked in Italy and later in Mexico. He died in Mexico City on 18 July 1957.
