## Biography

Albrecht Joseph (1901–1991) was a German-born film editor and screenwriter. Born in Frankfurt am Main, he left Germany in 1933 owing to his Jewish heritage and settled in the United States in 1939, where he worked in Hollywood, often credited as Al Joseph.

He edited numerous films, including *The Incredible Shrinking Man* (1957), *Superman and the Mole Men* (1951), *Love Happy* (1949) and *Story of G.I. Joe* (1945). Joseph also edited more than 150 episodes of the television western series *Gunsmoke* (1958–1967). He was married to Anna Mahler from 1969 until her death in 1988.
