Born in Livorno, he competed successfully at the 1920 Olympics, winning three team gold medals and an individual silver in sabre alongside his brother Nedo. He turned professional after the Games and later moved to the United States in 1935. Nadi taught fencing in New York and, from 1943, in Los Angeles, where he also coached actors for film scenes. He played Renard's Bodyguard in *To Have and Have Not* (1944) and had an earlier acting role as François de Baynes in the French film *Le Tournoi dans la cité* (1928). He worked as a fencing coordinator or technical advisor on several Hollywood productions, including *Frenchman's Creek* (1944) and *The Mississippi Gambler* (1953).
