## Biography

Alec B. Francis (also credited as Alec Francis, Alex B. Francis and similar variations) was an English actor who worked primarily in the United States. Born in London in December 1867, he appeared in more than 240 films between 1911 and 1934, largely during the silent era, and also directed two short films.

He had a stage career before entering films, including tours with British companies that took him to India, South Africa and the United States. Francis is known for supporting roles such as Rev. Benson in *3 Bad Men* (1926), Major Caron in *Mata Hari* (1931), the King of Hearts in *Alice in Wonderland* (1933) and Twyford in *Arrowsmith* (1931). He died in Hollywood, California, on 6 July 1934.
