## Biography

Alec Mills (10 May 1932 – 12 February 2024) was a British cinematographer. Born in London, he began working in film studios as a teenager and progressed through roles including clapper loader and focus puller before becoming a camera operator in the 1960s.

He operated the camera on five James Bond films between 1969 and 1983, as well as on *Return of the Jedi* (1983), *Death on the Nile* (1978) and *Macbeth* (1971). Mills served as director of photography on *The Living Daylights* (1987), *Licence to Kill* (1989), *Shaka Zulu* (1986) and *King Kong Lives* (1986). He was a founding chairman of the Guild of British Camera Technicians and later taught at the National Film and Television School.
