He created the Disney animated series *Gravity Falls* (2012–2016), for which he also served as writer and provided the voices of Grunkle Stan, Soos Ramirez, Bill Cipher and Old Man McGucket, among others. Hirsch graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in 2007. Earlier in his career he worked as a writer and storyboard artist on *The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack* (2008) and contributed to *Fish Hooks* (2010). He later wrote for *Inside Job* (2021) and co-ordinated the story for *Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse* (2018). *Gravity Falls* received BAFTA and Annie Awards.
