## Biography

Alexa Karolinski is a German writer, director and producer. She co-created, co-wrote and produced the Netflix miniseries *Unorthodox* (2020) with Anna Winger.

She holds an MFA in Social Documentary Film from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her thesis film *Oma & Bella* (2012), a documentary about her grandmother and her grandmother’s friend, both Holocaust survivors, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and won the Grimme Prize. Other credits include the documentary *Signs of Life* (2018) and various music videos and short films.

Karolinski was born in 1984 in West Berlin to a Canadian mother and German father, and grew up in the city’s Jewish community. She lives between Berlin and Los Angeles.
