## Biography

Alexander Doré (1923–2002) was a British actor, director and screenwriter. He appeared as the First Spy in the 1968 film *Chitty Chitty Bang Bang* and played Karl von Brauner in the 1968 television series *Virgin of the Secret Service* and Bertram Bright in *Bright's Boffins* (1970–1972).

His other screen credits include appearances in *At the Stroke of Nine* (1957), *Casino Royale* (1967) and *A Very Peculiar Practice* (1986). He wrote the screenplays for *Jungle Street* (1961) and *The Wind of Change* (1961), and directed several Dutch television productions in the 1970s and 1980s. Doré was married to actress Edna Doré from 1946 until his death.
