Born in Berlin in 1965, he joined the experimental band Einstürzende Neubauten in 1980 at the age of 14. He has also performed and recorded under the names Alexander von Borsig, with Crime & the City Solution and with Sprung aus den Wolken. Hacke has composed music for several films, including *Head-On* (2004) directed by Fatih Akın, for which he contributed tracks to the soundtrack. He also scored *The Cut* (2014) and *Eight Miles High* (2007).
