## Biography

Alexander Jacobs (1927–1979) was a British screenwriter. He began working in the British film industry in the 1940s in publicity and distribution, and later wrote and directed for British television. He helped found the Free Cinema movement and assisted producer David Deutsch on films including *Catch Us If You Can* (1965).

Jacobs collaborated with director John Boorman on the screenplays for *Point Blank* (1967) and *Hell in the Pacific* (1968). His other credits include *Sitting Target* (1972), *The Seven-Ups* (1973), *French Connection II* (1975) and *An Enemy of the People* (1978). He was married to Sally Jacobs and died in Los Angeles.
