## Biography

Alexander Scourby was an American actor and narrator. He appeared on stage from the mid-1930s in Shakespearean productions and made his film debut in the 1950s.

He played the mob boss Mike Lagana in Fritz Lang's *The Big Heat* (1953). Scourby was also known for voice work, including narrating documentaries and recording hundreds of audiobooks for the blind. He recorded complete versions of the King James Bible and the Revised Standard Version.

Scourby was born in Brooklyn, New York, on 13 November 1913 and died in Newtown, Connecticut, on 22 February 1985.
