## Biography

Alexander Singer (also credited as Alex Singer) was an American television and film director. He began his career in 1951 as a cinematographer on the short documentary *Day of the Fight*, directed by his high-school friend Stanley Kubrick, before turning to directing a decade later with the feature *A Cold Wind in August*.

Singer directed episodes of numerous television series, including *The Fugitive* (1963), *Mission: Impossible* (1966), *MacGyver* (1985), *Murder, She Wrote* (1984), *Star Trek: The Next Generation* (1987), *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine* (1993) and *Star Trek: Voyager* (1995). His feature film credits include the western *Captain Apache* (1971) and *Glass Houses* (1972). He won a Primetime Emmy Award.
