## Biography

Alexander von Lagorio (1890–1965) was a German cinematographer and photographer. Born in Warsaw, he worked initially on trick photography and optical effects before becoming a cameraman in the late 1920s, often in partnership with Curt Oertel.

He is known for his contributions to Leni Riefenstahl’s two-part documentary *Olympia* (1938), filmed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Other credits include *Der Schimmelreiter* (1934), *Die Unbekannte* (1936) and the colour feature *Frauen sind doch bessere Diplomaten* (1941), the first full-length German Agfacolor film. He also researched colour film processes and published on the subject.
