## Biography

Alexei Aigui is a Russian composer and violinist. Born on 11 July 1971 in Moscow, he is the son of Chuvash poet Gennadiy Aygi. He studied at the Ippolitov-Ivanov School of Music and founded the Ensemble 4'33" in 1994.

Aigui has composed original music for numerous films and television programmes. His credits include *I Am Not Your Negro* (2017), *The Young Karl Marx* (2017), *The Truth* (2019), *Looking for Hortense* (2012) and *Exterminate All the Brutes* (2021). He has frequently collaborated with director Raoul Peck.

His film scores have received several Russian awards, including Nika Awards and Golden Eagle Awards.
