## Biography

Alfred E. Green was an American film director. He entered the industry in 1912 as an actor with the Selig Polyscope Company and later became an assistant to director Colin Campbell. He began directing two-reel comedies before moving to feature films in 1917.

Green directed *Disraeli* (1929), one of several films he made with George Arliss. His other notable credits include *Baby Face* (1933) and *Dangerous* (1935), the latter starring Bette Davis in her Academy Award-winning performance. He also directed *The Jolson Story* (1946). His career continued into the 1950s with both features and television episodes.
