## Biography

Alfred Siegert was a German documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, director and writer. Born in Chemnitz in 1904, he worked as a cinematographer on Leni Riefenstahl’s *Olympia Part One: Festival of the Nations* (1938) and its companion film.

From the 1930s onwards he directed, wrote and photographed numerous short documentaries on industrial, craft and cultural subjects. His later credits include *Volkskunst im Erzgebirge* (1952), *Spielzeug ernst genommen* (1953) and *Talsperre des Friedens* (1952). He died in 1984.
