## Biography

Alla Verlotsky is a film producer, programmer and distributor. Born in Kiev, Ukraine, she studied journalism at Moscow State University and Central Asian and African film at the Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow before moving to the United States in 1991.

In 1999 she founded Seagull Films, a New York-based company specialising in the distribution and programming of international art and independent cinema. She served as associate producer on Alexander Sokurov’s *Russian Ark* (2002) and has worked as artistic director of the Colors of the Nile International Film Festival in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She has also programmed for the New York Jewish Film Festival and other events.
