Allan F. Nicholls is a Canadian actor, director, producer, screenwriter, composer and musician. Born in Montreal, he began his career as lead vocalist with the 1960s band J.B. & The Playboys and later played the role of Claude in the original Broadway production of the musical Hair.

Nicholls is known for his frequent collaborations with director Robert Altman. He appeared as Bill and contributed music to the 1975 film Nashville. Other acting credits include Johnny Upton in Slap Shot (1977), Rough House in Popeye (1980) and roles in A Wedding (1978), for which he received BAFTA and Writers Guild of America nominations for the screenplay, Buffalo Bill and the Indians (1976) and Bob Roberts (1992). He has also worked extensively as an assistant director.
