## Biography

Allan McKeown was a British television, film and stage producer. Born in London in 1946, he began his career as a hairdresser at Vidal Sassoon before moving into advertising and forming the independent production company Witzend Productions with writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais.

He served as executive producer on the comedy-drama series *Auf Wiedersehen, Pet* (1983) and *Goodnight Sweetheart* (1993), as well as *Shine on Harvey Moon*, *Birds of a Feather* and *Lovejoy*. In the United States he produced shows for his wife, the comedian Tracey Ullman, whom he married in 1983, including the Emmy-winning *Tracey Takes On...* (1996–99). McKeown also produced stage musicals such as *Jerry Springer: The Opera* at the National Theatre. He died in Los Angeles in 2013.
