## Biography

Allan Starski is a Polish production designer and set decorator. Born in Warsaw on 1 January 1943, he graduated in 1969 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw with a degree in architecture and interior design. He began his film career in the early 1970s and made his debut as a production designer on *Chłopcy* (1973).

Starski has collaborated extensively with Andrzej Wajda on films including *Człowiek z marmuru* (1977), *Człowiek z żelaza* (1981), *Panny z Wilka* (1979) and *Pan Tadeusz* (1999). He won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction, shared with Ewa Braun, for Steven Spielberg's *Schindler's List* (1993). He later worked with Roman Polanski on *The Pianist* (2002), for which he received a César Award, and *Oliver Twist* (2005). Other credits include *Europa Europa* (1990) and *The Coldest Game* (2019). He is the son of screenwriter and songwriter Ludwik Starski.
