## Biography

Allen Guilford was a New Zealand cinematographer. He worked on early New Zealand television drama and feature films, including the TV movie *The God Boy* (1976) and the feature *Trial Run* (1984).

Guilford served as director of photography on episodes of the series *Xena: Warrior Princess* (1995) from 1996 to 2000. His feature credits include *The Footstep Man* (1992), *What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?* (1999), *The Legend of Johnny Lingo* (2003) and *Riverworld* (2003). He also worked as director of photography on the second unit for *The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring* (2001), *The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers* (2002) and *The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King* (2003).

He won New Zealand Film Awards for cinematography on *The Footstep Man*, *The Climb* (1997) and *What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?*. Guilford died on 10 March 2009.
