## Biography

Allen Reisner (1924–2004) was an American television and film director. He began his career as an actor in New York in 1941, appearing on Broadway in productions including *Junior Miss*, *No Exit* and *Home of the Brave*, and in live television on *Philco Playhouse* and the *NBC Repertory Theater*. In 1950, at the suggestion of Yul Brynner, he moved into directing and worked under contract at CBS until 1956 on anthology series such as *Suspense*, *Danger* and *Studio One*.

After relocating to Hollywood in 1954, Reisner directed episodes of numerous series over three decades, including *The Twilight Zone* (1959), *The Green Hornet* (1966–1967), *Hawaii Five-O*, *Gunsmoke*, *Kojak*, *Murder, She Wrote* (1984–1989) and *Airwolf* (1985). His feature films include *All Mine to Give* (1957) and *St. Louis Blues* (1958). He received notable attention for directing the 1976 miniseries *Captains and the Kings*.
