## Biography

Alonso Alvarez-Barreda (also credited as Alonso Alvarez or Alonso Alvarez Barreda) is a Mexican director of film and television. Born in Mexico City and raised in Tampico, he began with short films including *Historia de un Letrero* (2007), which won Best Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008, and *Crescendo* (2011), a finalist for the Academy Awards. He was selected for the HBO Access Directing Fellowship in 2014.

Alvarez-Barreda has directed episodes of several television series, including eight episodes of *Snowfall* (2017–2023), for which three were submitted for Emmy consideration in the Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series category. Other credits include *American Horror Stories* (2021), *The Lincoln Lawyer* (2022), *The Mosquito Coast* (2021), *Kindred* (2022), *Hysteria!* (2024) and *The Drop: A Snowfall Saga* (2026). He has also directed feature films such as *The Wingwalker* (2024).
