## Biography

Alvin Boretz (15 June 1919 – 22 July 2010) was an American writer for radio, television, stage and screen. Born in New York City, he served in the US Army Air Corps during the Second World War before beginning his career writing radio scripts in the mid-1940s.

He contributed to numerous anthology series during the Golden Age of Television, including *Armstrong Circle Theatre*, *Playhouse 90* and *The Alcoa Hour*, as well as later series such as *Dr. Kildare*, *The Defenders*, *N.Y.P.D.* and *Kojak* (1975–1976). His television work also included an episode of *The Amazing Spider-Man* (1977). Boretz wrote the screenplay for the feature film *Brass Target* (1978).

In 1957 his script "The Trial of Poznan" won the Harcourt Brace Award for best television play. He claimed to have written over one thousand dramatic scripts across five decades.
