## Biography

Alvin Sapinsley was an American television writer and producer. Born on 23 November 1921 in Providence, Rhode Island, he began writing for live anthology series in the early 1950s after serving in the US Navy during the Second World War.

He contributed scripts to *Studio One*, *Suspense*, *The Alcoa Hour* and *The Man from U.N.C.L.E.* (1964). Sapinsley wrote twelve episodes of *Hawaii Five-O* between 1971 and 1977, two episodes of *Kojak* in 1974, and teleplays for *Night Gallery*. He also adapted *The Scarlet Letter* as a four-part miniseries in 1979. Sapinsley died on 14 July 2002 in Woodland Hills, California.
