## Biography

Amara Okereke is an English actress. She was born on 27 November 1996 in North Tyneside and grew up in Adel, Leeds, where she attended the Grammar School at Leeds. She trained at the Arts Educational School (ArtsEd) in London, graduating with a BA in musical theatre in 2018.

Okereke made her West End debut in 2012 as Cassie in *13* at the Apollo Theatre. After graduating, she appeared as Cosette in *Les Misérables* at the Queen's Theatre, winning Best Actress in a Musical at the Stage Debut Awards. In 2022 she became the first Black actress to play Eliza Doolittle in the West End revival of *My Fair Lady* at the London Coliseum, for which she received a Black British Theatre Award. Other stage roles include Laurie in *Oklahoma!* and Wendla in *Spring Awakening*.

On screen, Okereke played Becky Fox in the 2022 BBC Three series *Red Rose* and Nina Morgan in the 2024 Amazon Prime series *The Morning After*. Her feature film roles include Melange in *In the Lost Lands* (2025) and Mary Lockwood in *The Choral* (2025). She also appeared as Jeen in *Andor* (2025).
