Amber Benson is an American actress, writer, director and producer. Born on 8 January 1977 in Birmingham, Alabama, she made her feature film debut at the age of 14 as Ella McShane in Steven Soderbergh's *King of the Hill* (1993).

She is best known for portraying Tara Maclay in the television series *Buffy the Vampire Slayer* (1999–2002). Benson has also directed, produced and starred in the films *Chance* (2002) and *Lovers, Liars & Lunatics* (2006), and co-directed *Drones* (2010) with Adam Busch.

Her other credits include roles in *The Crush* (1993), *Can't Hardly Wait* (1998), *Latter Days* (2004), *Grey's Anatomy* (2005) and *Supernatural* (2005).
