## Biography

André Bauma is a Congolese park ranger and gorilla caretaker at Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He heads the Senkwekwe Center, the park's sanctuary for orphaned mountain gorillas.

He appears as himself in the 2014 documentary *Virunga*, which follows efforts to protect the park and its gorillas. Bauma has cared for orphaned gorillas at the park since 2007, including Ndakasi, and also featured in the 2015 television film *Virunga: Gorillas in Peril*.
