## Biography

Andréas Winding (1928–1977) was a French cinematographer. He trained at the École Nationale de Photographie et de Cinématographie and worked as an assistant to Claude Renoir early in his career.

He served as director of photography on films including *PlayTime* (1967), *Woman in Chains* (1968), *Rider on the Rain* (1970), *The Pariah* (1972), *A Slightly Pregnant Man* (1973) and *Special Section* (1975). He received a posthumous César Award nomination for best cinematography for *L'imprécateur* (1977).

Winding was married to film editor Geneviève Winding; their sons Romain Winding and Jean-Christophe Winding also worked as cinematographers.
