## Biography

Andrée Davanture was a French film editor. Born on 11 October 1933 in Poggio-di-Nazza, Corsica, she began working in editing in the early 1950s and became a chief editor by the mid-1960s. She died in Paris on 1 July 2014.

From 1974 she focused increasingly on films by African directors. She edited six films for Souleymane Cissé, including *Yeelen* (1987), and worked on titles such as *The Man Who Sleeps* (1974) and *Lettre paysanne* (1975). In 1980 she founded the Paris-based company Atria to support African cinema. Over a sixty-year career she contributed to more than 140 films.
