## Biography

Andrée Putman was a French interior designer. She founded the design firm Écart in 1978, which reissued furniture by modernist designers including Eileen Gray and Jean-Michel Frank.

Her interior projects included the Morgans Hotel in New York, the Air France Concorde aircraft, the Guerlain store on the Champs-Élysées and the office of French culture minister Jack Lang. She also contributed to production design on Peter Greenaway’s film *The Pillow Book* (1996).
