## Biography

Andrew Macdonald is a Scottish film producer. Born in Glasgow in January 1966, he was educated at Glenalmond College. With Duncan Kenworthy he co-founded the production company DNA Films.

He is known for his collaborations with director Danny Boyle and writer John Hodge on films including *Shallow Grave* (1994), *Trainspotting* (1996), *The Beach* (2000) and *28 Days Later* (2002). He has also worked frequently with writer-director Alex Garland on *Ex Machina* (2015), *Annihilation* (2018), *Civil War* (2024), *Warfare* (2025) and the *28 Years Later* films (2025–2026).

Macdonald has produced more than thirty films and won a BAFTA Award. He is the brother of documentary filmmaker Kevin Macdonald and grandson of Emeric Pressburger.
